Parent & Family Engagement Plan

Requisitos generales para el plan de participación de padres y la familia

Escuela Primaria de Mount Rainier comprende la importancia de la participación de padres y la familia en nuestra escuela. Las asociaciones de padres y familias brindan una oportunidad para fortalecer el programa académico, así como para incluir a los padres / tutores como socios iguales en la educación de nuestros hijos.  Como escuela de Título I, estamos comprometidos a proporcionar programas, actividades y procedimientos que mejorarán las oportunidades para involucrar a los padres y familias en el proceso de aprendizaje que sean consistentes con Título I, Parte A de la Ley Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Además, la escuela acepta y alinea este plan con la Junta de Participación de Padres y Familias de PGCPS. Anualmente, el Plan de participación de padres y familia se desarrolla o revisa y se comparte con los padres / tutores para que aporten sus opiniones.Este documento sirve como un medio para solidificar nuestra asociación con la comunidad y sirve como un calendario para los próximos eventos de padres y familias. Los padres son bienvenidos a proporcionar comentarios / sugerencias relacionados con el proceso de mejora continua de la escuela enviando información a un administrador de la escuela verbalmente, a través de comunicaciones por correo electrónico y / o mediante encuestas y evaluaciones.Todos los eventos y recursos estarán accesibles en un idioma y formato comprensibles para todos los padres / tutores. Los servicios de intérprete están disponibles para todos los eventos en varios idiomas y se brindan en base a una solicitud o notificación previa por escrito.

 

Los administradores y personal de la escuela han analizado los datos de rendimiento de los estudiantes para identificar las metas académicas de nuestra escuela para mejorar la escuela. Aquí están nuestras metas académicas para el año escolar 2021-2022.

 

OBJETIVO INTELIGENTE #1: 

Durante el año escolar 2021-2022, el porcentaje de estudiantes que aprenden inglés (ELL) que alcanzan sus metas individuales de crecimiento para alcanzar el objetivo aumentará en _3_ puntos porcentuales según lo medido por la evaluación WIDA / ACCESS de 2021.

Durante el año escolar 2021-2022, el porcentaje de estudiantes con calificaciones competentes o superiores aumentará en __ 3 __ puntos porcentuales, según lo medido por la evaluación MCAP ELA de 2022.

Guías de Título I de la ESSA para desarrollar la capacidad de los padres: 

OBJETIVO 1:  Brindar asistencia a los padres para que comprendan el contenido académico y los requisitos del Título I.

OBJETIVO 2: Proporcionar a los padres y las familias materiales y recursos para desarrollar su capacidad para trabajar con los niños con sus trabajos

OBJETIVO 3:  Capacitar al personal de la escuela con respecto a las estrategias de participación, con apoyo de los padres.  

OBJETIVO 4:  Apoyar los esfuerzos de colaboración con socios comunitarios externos y / o oficinas del condado para apoyar las ofertas de los padres.

OBJETIVO 5:  Brindar información a los padres en un formato que sea práctico y en idiomas que los padres comprendan.

OBJETIVO 6: Proporcionar accesibilidad para los padres según sea necesario (interpretación, cuidado de niños, accesibilidad para discapacitados). 


Con el fin de brindar información y asistencia oportuna a los padres y desarrollar la capacidad de los padres para comprender los requisitos del Título I, las evaluaciones académicas estatales y locales, y formas de monitorear y mejorar el progreso de un niño, organizaremos los siguientes eventos. Se distribuirán o colocarán folletos en el sitio web de nuestra escuela antes de cada evento que anunciarán un número flexible de horarios de reuniones y el cuidado de niños. 

 General Requirements for Parent and Family Engagement Plan

Mount Rainier Elementary School understands the importance of parent and family engagement at our school.  Parent and family partnerships afford an opportunity for strengthening the academic program as well as including parents/guardians as equal partners in educating our children.   As a Title I school, we are committed to providing programs, activities, and procedures that will enhance opportunities for engaging parents and families in the learning process that are consistent with Title I, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). In addition, the school accepts and aligns this plan with the PGCPS Parent and Family Engagement Board Policy.  Annually, the Parent & Family Engagement Plan is developed or revised and shared with parents/guardians for input. This document serves as a means to solidify our partnership with the school community and serve as a calendar for upcoming parents and families events. Parents are welcome to provide input/suggestions related to the continuous school improvement process by submitting information to a school administrator verbally, via email communications, and/or through surveys and evaluations. All events and resources will be accessible in a language and format understandable for all parents/guardians. Interpreter services are available for all events in multiple languages and provided based upon prior written request or notification. 

 

Administrators and school staff have analyzed student performance data in order to identify our school’s academic goals for school improvement. Here are our 2021-2022 school year academic goals.

 

SMART GOAL #1: 

During the 2021-2022 SY, the percent of English Language Learner (ELL) meeting their individual Growth-to-Target goals will increase by _3_ percentage points as measured by the 2021 WIDA/ACCESS assessment.

SMART GOAL #2

During the 2021-2022 SY, the percent of students scoring proficient or higher will increase by __3__ percentage points as measured by the 2022 MCAP ELA assessment.

SMART GOAL #3

During the 2021-2022 SY, the percent of students scoring proficient or higher will increase by __2__ percentage points as measured by the 2022 MCAP Mathematics assessment.

Title I ESSA Guidelines for Building Parent Capacity: 

Goal 1:  Provide assistance to parents in understanding academic content and the requirements of Title I.

Goal 2:  Provide parents and families with materials and resources to build their capacity to work with children with their academics.

Goal 3:  Train school-based staff regarding engagement strategies, with support from parents.  

Goal 4:  Support collaborative efforts with outside community partners and/or county offices to support parent offerings.

Goal 5:  Provide information to parents in a format that is practical and in languages that parents understand.

Goal 6:  Provide accessibility for parents as needed (interpretation, childcare, accessibility for disabled). 


In order to provide timely information and assistance to parents and build parent capacity in understanding the requirements of Title I, state and local academic assessments, and ways to monitor and improve a child’s progress, we will host the following events.  Flyers will be distributed  and or placed on our school’s website prior to each event that will advertise a flexible number of meeting times and the offering of childcare.

Principal Q & A

Based on feedback from parents, the principal will hold an open Zoom room for Q & A/concerns for 30 minutes prior to each monthly PTO meeting.  Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions and voice concerns during this time.  The principal and assistant principal will moderate and answer questions from the group.  

August 2021 - June 2022

PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) Meetings

The MRES parent teacher organization (PTO) is a formal organization that consists of parents, teachers and school staff. The goals include volunteerism of parents, encouragement of teachers and students, community involvement, and welfare of students and families.  Meetings are held monthly and facilitated by the PTO President.  Interpretation services are provided.

School-Based Staff Training

Better Together: Elevating Family School Partnerships

Staff will receive training on best practices for engaging parents to build a stronger relationship between the school and families and to improve student academic achievement. Staff will also be given an overview of the Schoolwide Title I Program inclusive of the School-Parent Compact and Parent & Family Engagement Plan.

Title I Annual Meeting & 

Back to School Night

Parents will be given an overview of the Schoolwide Title I program and be provided the opportunity to give input into the annual Title I Budget, School Parent Compact and the Parent & Family Engagement Plan. Time will be allotted to ask questions and give feedback.

Parents/Families will meet their child’s teacher(s) and learn about their child’s instructional program, daily schedule, school rules, as well as academic expectations.  We will also provide an overview of the school’s data and academic interventions used at our school to support student achievement.

Parent-Teacher Conferences 

Families will meet with their child’s teacher (s) to hear about their child’s academic progress and discuss strategies to help them achieve academic success. Families will also have an opportunity to provide feedback on the School Parent compact.

Math and Reading Night

In this workshop, parents will be able to make and take different materials that encompass Math and Literacy together. They can take it home and reinforce their math and literacy skills  with his/her children. It will include materials that support  phonics, numeracy, measurement, alphabet knowledge, and sight words. Using the provided materials parents will be able to reinforce math and literacy skills will their children in the home.  Interpretation will be provided.

January 27th, 2022

International Night

International night is a whole school celebration to honor each student’s heritage and culture. Breakout rooms will afford the opportunity for families to learn about different foods related to represented cultures, information about home countries, dance and music, and storytelling. This will allow MRES families to make connections with our rich cultures and different countries represented in our school.   Interpretation will be provided.

Title I Parent Input Meeting

Parents/families will have the opportunity to provide input on how to best utilize Title I and SBB funds for the 22-23 SY.  Recommendations should be related to the school’s specific needs in academics, social emotional learning, and special programs.  Additionally, parents/families will provide feedback in revising our Parent and Family Engagement Plan for the upcoming school year. The school will collaborate/partner with parents to help review and revise the Parent andFamily Engagement Plan and School Parent Compact.

Mt. Rainier Reading Night

Mt. Rainier Reading Night is held annually (formerly known as “Supper With Seuss”) in order to celebrate reading.  Food and fellowship will allow the night to begin as a community in celebration as staff, parents, and students continue to develop strong relationships with our families.  Afterwards, families will be provided with choices in which they can hear read-aloud stories read by guest readers (MRES teachers, School Board Members, PGCPS Executive Staff, Mt. Rainier Mayor, etc.) in both Spanish and English.  Families will be provided with books to take home so they can continue to practice reading and engage as a family in supporting their child with growing and strengthening skills.  Interpretation will be provided.

STEAM Night

Student Science Fair projects, artistic creations, math/technology/engineering activities will be presented to families  during an evening (virtual or in-person) in order to celebrate student work and increase their knowledge of STEAM.  Interpretation will be provided.

Transitional Parent Night (PreK to K)

Incoming Kindergarten parents & families will receive academic information to prepare students for the upcoming school year.

Transitional Parent Night (6th to 7th)

Outgoing 6th grade parents & families will receive information to prepare students for middle school.
