Dear J. Frank Dent Families,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at J. Frank Dent Elementary School! We are thrilled to welcome our returning students and excited to meet our new families as we begin another year of growth, learning, and success.
This year, our school-wide theme is Culture, Clarity, and High Expectations. At JFDES, we are committed to creating a strong school culture rooted in respect, responsibility, and academic excellence. As a staff, we are shifting our focus from simply understanding our "why" to actively planning and working on the "how"—how we support every child, every day. This year, we are prioritizing three major focus areas, or "Big Rocks":
- Improving student attendance
- Addressing our CSI (Comprehensive Support and Improvement) designation for students with Disabilities
- Building an academic culture that includes every member of our school community—students, staff, and families
To prepare for the year, staff have been working hard to get classrooms ready, with many moving rooms and preparing materials due to building improvements made possible through Community Schools and other grant funding. Their dedication ensures our building is ready to provide a safe and welcoming space for all learners.

Join us for an evening of community and connection. Meet your child’s teacher, learn about grade-level expectations, and hear about our goals for the year.
School Uniform Reminder:
- Frank Dent ES is a uniform school. Please help us maintain a positive and consistent learning environment by following the school uniform policy:
- Navy blue uniform bottoms (pants, skirts, shorts) for all students
- Royal blue shirts for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5
- Gold shirts for Pre-K students
Uniforms help build a sense of school pride and community, and we appreciate your support in this area.
We are proud to welcome new members to our team this year, including Assistant Principal Mrs. Dana Lee, Ms. Carr (4th/5th Grade), and Ms. Hayes, our new Special Education Resource Teacher. We’re also excited to welcome Ms. Livingston back to Kindergarten!
This is going to be a year of meaningful progress for our students—and we can’t do it without your partnership. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to working with you to make this school year our best yet!
