DuVal PTSA
Who We Are:
- Parents For Schools (PFS) DBA DuVal Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is a local Prince Georges County PTSA. We are a subordinate organization under PTA Delaware Congress.
- Is a 501(c)(3) charitable, scientific, literary, or educational organization.
- The Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is the nation's largest child advocacy organization. It is a non-profit organization that is organized at the National, State and Local level and run entirely by volunteers. Our local PTSA provides many educational and social programs to benefit students and families as well as to support teachers in the classroom at Duval High School.
- Our members get to make the decisions, approve bylaws, elect officers, and approve budgets and plans.
- We will partner with and focus on efforts for DuVal high school and community. It is a partnership between us and the principal. We are separate entities.
Our Mission:
- To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for ALL children.
Our Goals:
- Increase membership to expand our reach.
- Raise funds to support the mission.
- Advocate and support for education, physical and mental health, welfare, social, environmental, and safety of children and well-being for children and young people.
- Support students in building intellectual growth, develop critical thinking and teamwork, and enable children to learn the crafts and techniques of the Arts (i.e., culinary, theater/drama, music, dance, fashion design), Sports, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and environmental.
- Communicate, brand, beautify, socialize, publicize, and enable access to various resources and sources to educate and keep families informed, and make DuVal high school and community more attractive.
- Appreciate and establish partnerships with donors/funders and partners to support and involve the students, parents, teachers and community being served in DuVal High School PTSA’s program development, delivery, and/or governance.
