Chipmunk: School Bus Tracking App for Real-Time Updates

Chipmunk - School Bus Tracker

We are excited to announce the initial launch of the Chipmunk App, our new school bus tracking tool designed to enhance communication and improve the transportation experience for our families.

This app will provide parents and guardians with real-time updates and trip notifications about their child's school bus, offering greater peace of mind and improved transparency.

Phased App Rollout Plan

To ensure a smooth launch, we have developed a phased rollout plan for the Chipmunk App. Families will be onboarded to the system by route number, which aligns internally with each of our bus lots. This approach allows us to provide targeted support and ensure a stable transition as we introduce this new platform. We will begin with routes starting with F and L (e.g., F01, L56, etc.). Families assigned to these routes will be onboarded to the Chipmunk App prior to rollout on September 2.

All other routes not included in the initial rollout will continue to use Stopfinder for bus tracking until further notice. Parents can confirm their child's route on the ParentVue portal.

Wondering when your family can begin using the new app?

PGCPS Chipmunk HelpBot

We’re excited to introduce the PGCPS Chipmunk HelpBot - an AI assistant designed to quickly troubleshoot common questions about Chipmunk. You can access it at: www.pgcpschipmunk.com. The chatbot is trained on the Chipmunk user guide and rollout plan, with language designed to be simple and parent friendly. If none of its suggestions solve the issue, it will ultimately redirect users to the PGCPS Transportation Office phone number.

Here are a few sample questions you can try:

  • When can I start using Chipmunk?
  • Why is my child’s information missing?
  • Why can’t I see my child’s bus?
