Welcome Back Scholars and Families

Greetings Raider Family and Happy New School Year,

On behalf of the Eleanor Roosevelt High School Administration, Instructional and Support Staff, I would like to welcome you to the school year 2025-2026 where we are Cultivating Unity and Excellence…The Roosevelt Way…To Transformation & Innovation”. We will continue on the primacy of our four tenants: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity and Kindness and remain grounded in inclusion and connection.

Just like that the time is upon us!  Students, soon, you will begin to set your clocks, charge your chromebooks, pack your backpacks and reset sleeping patterns.  Parents and families, you will begin to organize the calendar, establish routines and arrange pick-ups and drop offs.  Eleanor Roosevelt High School staff will begin to plan lessons, decorate classrooms, plan for club activities and create meaningful experiences.  Collectively, we will continue to exemplify our vision and mission: Creating lifelong learners and innovative leaders who model respect, professionalism and empathy beyond the classroom.”

As always, our school-wide goals will be in alignment to PGCPS’s Strategic Plan ``Transformation 2026: Education anchored in Excellence and Equity”. Our work this year will be rooted in our district priorities which are 1) Positive and Collaborative Culture and Climate  2) Inclusive Teaching and Learning for Special Education & Multilingual Learners and 3) Advancing Mathematical Thinking.  

DRESS CODE

Eleanor Roosevelt High School abides by the PGCPS System Wide Dress code policy.  Please be reminded of the following:

  • Shirts and blouses should be continuous from neckline to waist. The entire midsection should not show. No tank tops and muscle shirts.
  • Skirts, dresses, shorts, and spandex skirts should be approximately six (6) inches below the buttocks, or no shorter than fingertip level.
STUDENT IDENTIFICATION CARDS
The expectation is that students wear their school ID around their neck at all times.  We appreciate you supporting this safety measure by ensuring students have their ID’s when they leave home for school.  Forthcoming is information regarding ID distribution for new students and replacement IDs for returning students. 

CHROMEBOOKS

Incoming 9th Grade students (Class of 2029) will be distributed chromebooks; Information on the distribution schedule is forthcoming.Returning students who previously received a chromebook will continue with their same device.  Students who are in need of a device or repairs, information regarding the process to be assigned a replacement device or receive attention for repairs will be shared.

CLEAR BACK PACKS (BOOKBAGS)

It is mandatory that all high school students carry clear backpacks.  This is a PGCPS district mandate for all secondary schools.  This expectation will be enforced beginning the first week of school.

SYNERGY

Synergy is the student information system for Prince George's County Public Schools.  Families will use ParentVUE to access important information about their students. ParentVUE is the portal that allows parents and guardians to view information about their student, including classroom assignments and scores, attendance, transcripts, graduation status and more. In ParentVUE, families can also update their phone numbers and emergency contact information and access the Online Registration (OLR) ApplicationThe ParentVue Guide is hereStudent schedules can be retrieved through the Synergy ParentVue feature. 

PARENT ORIENTATION (In-Person) - ALL GRADES 

There will be an orientation session on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. This meeting will consist of information pertaining to the instructional program, School Counseling Center, and student expectations. Highlights will include expectations in regards to academics, behavior and safety. 

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION - ALL NEW STUDENTS

All students who are new to ERHS are invited to “The Roosevelt Way” New Student Orientation on Monday, August 25, 2025 by participating in our half day (3 hour early dismissal) orientation.  Students will become familiar with the instructional and extracurricular programs as well as meet their new administration, teachers, Professional School Counselors and support staff.  Orientation will be from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.  Students schedules can be retrieved in Synergy; students should print and bringtheir schedule. Students will be provided both breakfast and lunch.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL 
We will welcome all of our Raiders for the first day of school on August 26, 2025.  The school day begins at 8:30 am and ends at 3:10 pm.  Please make sure students are well rested to receive the welcome and instruction our awesome staff has been preparing for their learning.  Students should bring their PGCPS issued chromebook, a clear backpack, pen/pencil and a notebook.  During the first week of school, more specifics in regards to supplies will be shared by teachers.

BACK TO “THE ROOSEVELT WAY” NIGHT 

We would like to invite all of our parents and guardians to join us on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 beginning at 6:00 p.m. to meet the teachers, administrators, and staff members and learn about all things Raider Nation.

TRANSPORTATION

To receive school bus transportation at the start of the 2025-26 school year, your child must be fully registered for school by August 15, 2025How to Access Your Child’s Bus Information: You can find your child’s bus stop and schedule in several ways: 

  1. Activate Your ParentVUE Account - If you haven’t already, please activate your PGCPS ParentVUE account. Bus schedules will be available in ParentVUE starting August 18, 2025.
  2. Check Your Mailbox - Families with registered students will receive a postcard with their child’s bus assignment the week of August 19, 2025. 
  3. Use the StopFinder App - Download the StopFinder app from the App Store or Google Play to track your child’s bus in real time (Stop Finder App Final)
  4. Visit the PGCPS Transportation Webpage - Learn more about school transportation updates, safety, and on-time arrival initiatives for the new school year: www.pgcps.org/bus.
