About Meghan Thornton

With more than two decades in communications, journalism, and nonprofit public relations, Meghan brings both expertise and heart to PGCPS. An innovator in digital marketing and content strategy, she ensures the district stays ahead in an ever-evolving communications landscape, combining new technologies with on-the-ground connection. Anchored by a focus on brand journalism and multimedia storytelling to showcase successes, inspire engagement, and advance priorities, Meghan has guided PGCPS’s evolution into a full-scale, in-house newsroom — positioning the district as its own news source. She has also modernized outreach and strengthened cross-platform engagement, making communications more agile, strategic, and responsive to families, staff, and partners. As a parent leader and advocate, she is both personally and professionally invested in the future of public education in Prince George’s County.
