About Dr. Ryans

Dr. Ed Ryans is a distinguished educator, scholar, and instructional executive who has dedicated his entire professional life to the students and families of Prince George’s County. With over 30 years of experience in education spanning the classroom, principalship, central office leadership, and university teaching. Dr. Ryans exemplifies servant leadership and a deep understanding of school improvement. He began his executive leadership in PGCPS as Turnaround Director, where he led intensive improvement efforts in schools requiring urgent support. In this role, he built systems of accountability, strengthened instructional practices, and mobilized stakeholders around rapid school improvement. As an Instructional Director, he oversaw both secondary and K-12 clusters, where he successfully elevated school performance, increased graduation rates, and strengthened principal capacity through coaching and strategic alignment. A proud graduate of Morehouse College, Dr. Ryans is uniquely poised to cultivate coherence, instructional excellence, and equity across high schools, ensuring every student is prepared for college, career, and life.
