UPPER MARLBORO, MD - Prince George's County Executive-elect Aisha Braveboy named Dr. Shawn Joseph as interim superintendent of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS). Joseph previously served as PGCPS deputy superintendent for teaching and learning from 2014 - 2016.
Dr. Joseph is currently an assistant professor at Howard University, where he teaches educational leadership, administration and policy. As co-director of the AASA/Howard Urban Superintendents Academy, he mentors school district leaders nationwide in academic improvement, program evaluation and student-focused budgeting.
Dr. Joseph began his career in Montgomery County Public Schools, where he spent 16 years as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal and central office administrator. PGCPS and community partners look forward to his depth of experience to continue momentum in Prince George's County.
