International Baccalaureate Bridge

Program Description

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Bridge Program will be an in-person learning experience for students in Grades 9-12 accepted into the IB program. During this in-person experience, students will be introduced to the mission of the IB Program and what it means to be an IB student.
Students will participate in sessions consisting of the following topics:

What are the IB Learner Profile Traits?

What are the IB Core Principles?

How can IB assist with becoming college and career-ready?

How can I take principled action as an IB learner?

Students in Grades 11 and 12 will also focus on the specific requirements for the Diploma Program core components and requirements.


Who Should Apply
Students in Grades 9-12 entering the IB Diploma Programme at Frederick Douglass, Laurel, or Parkdale high schools or entering the IB Middle Years Programme at Frederick Douglass HS.

How To Apply

Students must register online at the PGCPS IB Website at https://www.pgcps.org/ib ​​by June 16 as spaces are limited at each school site. Students must select the IB school they will attend in Fall 2025.

Frederick Douglass High School summer program is open to ALL students entering Grades 9 and 10 as all the students are considered IB Middle Years Programme students. 

Cost/Accommodation

This program is provided at no cost.
Food will not be provided.
